Birthday Weekend Celebrations: Part I

Whew, this past weekend was a FULL one, but a great one.  We were honored to be invited to celebrate the 7th birthday of a very special girl.  Lela is the dear daughter of our great friend, Carrie, who we met when we first moved to Charlotte.  She was MaKenna's age at the time, just a tiny 2.5 years old!  In so many ways it seems like yesterday.

Not only did we get to celebrate Lela, but we also got to fish for the very first time this year!  Coincidentally, Parker had asked me when the next time we were going to go fishing was and then we got the invite to head to one of our favorite Nature Preserves!  The kids had a blast despite not catching anything.

They were pretty excited to give Lela her gifts as they put so much thought into making them.  I think they did a really great job at picking something she would like.  When we were at the craft store, they just kept saying we needed to get "this" and "that"...they had such a hard time narrowing down what they were going to make!

rainbow maker made by Blake (it has a kitty face stamped into the sculpey circle)

tackle box made by Parker with help from Daddy.  Parker came up with the design and placement and Daddy did the woodburning

It was such a wonderful way to spend a Saturday and we are so thankful we could be a part of it.  Happiest of birthdays to you sweet Lela!

  1. I'm SO happy that you all could come! It was so special for Lela - and I was so moved by her whispered reverent 'thank you' when she opened your gifts (you know how shy she can be about things like that!)
