With Blake's permission, I have posted a *small* sampling of his work from his Ancient Civilizations block. We began with Ancient India way back in November, took a few weeks off during December, and finished it up in January. This was definitely the most intense block we have ever done in terms of material covered and the amount of work documented in his Main Lesson book, BUT we had so much fun! To be honest, I was kind of dreading it a bit as Blake always grumbles and groans when it came to writing (and drawing really), but once we were absorbed in the stories, he had a blast re-creating the images in his book. And it turned out beautiful!!!! I cannot say how so very proud I am of him. He put so much care and effort into his work and his drawing improved by leaps and bounds with this block! He has set a new standard for his work and I know he will continue to live up to it.
Right now, we are wrapping up a math block (decimals-he is loving it!) and next week we will finally, finally begin our Ancient Greece myth and history block. This will also be a long block, 6 weeks, with lots of drawing and writing involved, but he has been begging for this since the beginning of 5th grade so I don't anticipate any resistance.
Beautiful work son and Mama teacher!!! I love learning in block style and diving into a subject for awhile. . . keep em coming! I love to see different blocks! Which grade and curriculum is this again? :)
